Earwig and AI

Earwig has always been proud to stay ahead of the educational technology curve by…

Maintaining a constant dialogue with hundreds of special school leaders and SENCOs
Incorporation the latest technology to deliver what they need to...
1. Optimise outcomes for their pupils
2. Provide vivid, useful and comprehensive tracking and reporting
3. Minimise teacher workload and stress

Earwig’s dedication to supporting the ever evolving needs of schools has maintained their status as the nation’s leading SEN assessment software since 2013.

In the second half of this decade, the latest technology means Artificial Intelligence, which will be the dominant driver of edtech innovation for the foreseeable future.

Our first step in this direction was a conference of school leaders in January 2025 which took place at the Science Museum  in London.

The keynote speaker was the eminent specialist in AI for education – Professor Rose Luckin, whose Educate Ventures project has been set up to promote AI based education innovation.

How AI will propel Earwig to the next level

The product of this conference and workshop is a draft paper which considers where AI software can have an immediate positive impact on special needs teaching and how this can actually be implemented, based on Earwig’s existing platform. It specifies fourteen different new features and facilities, all designed to make teaching and learning more enjoyable, productive and consistent for pupils and managing and implementing the whole process easier and more effective for school staff at every level. The paper has been broken down into three bite-sized chunks…

How might AI impact SEND teaching in the next decade?
What can AI offer in terms of concrete teacher performance in the short term?
What can Earwig deliver to get us there?

The workshop was followed by survey of the delegates to understand which of the fourteen development options they felt would be most useful or most urgent.  This survey has since been opened up to UK school leaders, whether they are Earwig clients or not.  If you would like to let us know your views and to help influence the course of future edtech software development, please read the paper (links above) and then take the survey. We look forward to hearing your opinions.
